Estate Planning
“Morning will come, it has no choice”
― Marty Rubin
Estate planning is for everyone, regardless if you have just purchased your first home or thinking about starting a fund for your grandchildren.
The plan does not have to cover all areas at once. It is possible to start with just a prenuptial agreement and a will. As your situation changes, I will help you with e.g. gifts or other donations, change of generation and living wills. Planning your estate will spare your family of many unnecessary problems and feuds upon your disability and/or death.
The demand for estate planning is rapidly growing. If you have property in more than one country, it is of outmost importance to have a plan in place.
The best time to start planning is today - so please feel free to give me a call or drop me a line and let's make a plan.
Couples
“Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none”
― William Shakespeare
You might be planning to get married, divorced, or perhaps you live in a blended family.
Regardless of your family situation, it lies in both your own and in the interest of the ones dependent on you to familiarize yourself with the factors that affect your legal status prior to making important decisions.
The importance of being aware of rights and obligations related to your family situation and legal status, is further emphasized in international relationships.
Before making any decisions it's a good idea to discuss your situation from a legal point of view.
Give me a call and come and see me alone or together with your partner.
Elder law
"Youth is wasted on the young"
-George Bernard Shaw
How do you want to spend your old age? Many dream of a second home in a warmer climate, being able to travel or to relax with family and friends -finally having the time to do so.
Regardless of what the future holds, your wellbeing is inherently linked with financial freedom and the possibility to choose.
It is important to start planning for your days as a senior citizen at an early stage.
Through powers of attorney, living wills and health care directives you can ensure that issues concerning yourself, are taken care of by the person you have designated and in accordance with your instructions. This also gives you the possibility to be a part of the decision making to the extent possible.
Regardless if you are taking care of a loved one, or planning for your own old age - there is no time like the present. So give me a call and let's get things started.

Children
"A person's a person, no matter how small"
— Dr. Seuss
Child custody, visitation and living arrangements are often the most contentious issues when two parents decide that they will no longer parent together.
Adding an international aspect to these discussions makes it even more difficult.
My starting point is always to try and settle the issue outside the courts. And to find solutions in the best interest of the child is my number one priority in every case.
I have years of experience in handling custody cases both nationally and internationally.
Let me help you find a solution that is in the best interest of the child, and works in practice.
Probate
" I didn't attend the funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying I approved of it"
-Mark Twain
When a person in your family passes away, according to Finnish law You have a few months' time to submit an estate inventory to the tax authorities.
In this particular situation this can seem overwhelming as well as questions in relation to distribution, selling of property and taxation issues.
If your family is capable of communicating and the estate is straight forward, perhaps all you need is legal advice.
In cases of disputes regarding the administration and/or division of the estate or complex international issues, an administrator and/or distributor is often needed. I function as an administrator and/or distributor when needed.
Give me a call in order to discuss how I can assist you and your family.
